[development] programmatic cck creation: another question

hi all, how do you programmatically create cck node references? i've been going over the emails passed around earlier on this list regarding programmatic cck creation which have proved very helpful with node creation - but i just can't seem to figure out how to save node references correctly. any thoughts? thanks much, arthur
