it seems that more and more people are getting interested in having this happen. jblack, chx, and i have been discussing possible implementations, and hope to start on it sometime in the near future, but don't have a definite timeline atm. anyone's thoughts/time/ efforts would be welcome to speed this along... :)

According to james blackwell, contrib needed to be split up into separate repositories for each project, afaicr.
