[development] Update notifications not working in forums on d.o.?

Hi, Could someone who knows kindly answer this http://drupal.org/node/216337 -- I have waited 12 days for a definite answer. Basically, why d.o. does not send mail alerts with watched / contributed forum threads (as it does with updated issues). I think that this significantly impacts usability of the site -- don't you?
