Chris If your module is successful and widely used, then people who care will submit patches for you, test them, ...etc. Hence, you act as gatekeeper/architect, rather than all that plus coder. This has worked for my modules: this is the crux of open source, people using the stuff and fixing bugs and adding features. If you are on sabbatical, then you should designate someone else to take over while you are away.
