Hallelujah. So...if Morbus needs to move, can we start on the foundations of the one, true pluggable aggregation API of doom, together, now?
The "problem" is the SOC project. If we help out on that, we potentially invalidate his application and earnings. If we don't help out on that, we do what? Work on Feed Parser? SimpleFeed? A brand new module?
I don't see how we could invalidate Aron's application and earnings by helping out on his SoC project. Quite the contrary, I think everybody's input is very important to make sure that it is a success for the Drupal community.
Morbus meant actually working on code....which he wants/needs to do to scratch his own itch.
So: how to work with Aaron's stuff while being able to forge ahead with producing running code?
Thanks for clarification - got that wrong. We were discussing the same thing here at Development Seed. I am afraid we'll have to wait until the baby takes shape and there is actually code to build on. Obviously there are ways to make things faster by helping Aron with vetting solutions and further on with testing, patching and feedback. I got some time set aside for this. When exactly it makes sense to jump on the new platform depends a lot on the deadlines of the project at hand. The SoC's deadlines are published here: http://aggregation.novaak.net/ Alex -- Alexander Barth Development Seed http://www.developmentseed.org http://www.developmentseed.org/blog lx_barth(skype) alex_b(drupal.org) Tel. 202.250.3633 Fax. 806.214.6218
