[development] DB best pratices, improving portability, MySQL ANSI mode

I just came across this: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/faqs-sql-modes.html http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-sql-mode.html setting mode to ANSI should help to debug the code and improve portability to other DB even if I've heard that the ANSI mode is not as strict as you'd expect.
