As we are pushing for 4.7 going out the door, Mark Shuttleworth is proposing a delay for the upcoming Ubuntu Dapper. As you know, Ubuntu is committed to a 6 month release cycle, and the release numbers are of yy.mm format (e.g. 05.10 for Breezy Badger). Now, there is a proposal to delay that by 1.5 months for testing, certification, localisation and "polish". https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-art/2006-March/000734.html The way I read it is: what is more important: Quality or Punctuality? I reiterate Dries' request that we only discuss topics which help us get 4.7RC out the door.
Thanks. Release management is an important issue and I promise that we'll reflect on our (my) mistakes _after_ 4.7.0 RC is released. -- Dries Buytaert :: http://www.buytaert.net/
