Gotta agree with Djun. I wouldn't be able to use Linux/Unix without being able to "stitch" a few commands together and manipulate their output. Writing small script or composite command lines really helps to get things done quickly. Similarly, what would Apple be without Applescript?
Problem is that if you break a shell script, there is no problem. If you break a Drupal module, then Drupal will completely break. It is like fiddling with the linux kernel (without having a backup to boot), not like writing a shell script. Goba
