Links package maintainership -- mega-ping?
Heyyo! I've evangelized the Links module a few times, and helped with the 5.0 port, but it appears it was never branched and a release was never made. Before he was pulled away by IRL stuff, the maintainer mentioned he'd like to give me CVS access to handle the 5.0 branch. I've tried to get in contact a couple of times, but I haven't heard back for about two months. I'd really like to see this branched and ready for download when D5 hits. Would it be a faux pas for me to jump in and add myself to the CVS access list for it and take care of the DRUPAL-5 branch? --Jeff Eaton
Would it be a faux pas for me to jump in and add myself to the CVS access list for it and take care of the DRUPAL-5 branch? If a maintainer is unresponsive and you have the proper perms to add yourself to the CVS acess list (meaning you shown you've got What It Takes®) just go for it. I think we'd all be honored to have Eaton touch our modules (no, I'm not hitting on you).

Maybe you can maintain it 'until the real maintainer comes back'? Bèr -- Drupal, Ruby on Rails and Joomla! development: webschuur.com | Drupal hosting: www.sympal.nl

Jeff reached me today...I've been severely swamped with work in the job that pays the bills, including a lot of travel. He had already added himself to the CVS list for the module, and had done a branch for 5.0. I responded back that I'm perfectly okay with this. He's contributed a number of good patches in the past, and I trust his judgment about what goes into the code. So...it's all okay with me, politically. I'm not intending to abandon the module, but given a realistic assessment of my current workload, it is sensible to have some help from someone else to maintain and improve it.
