Question: does anyone know if there's going to be any more discussion on the Drupal slogan? "Come for the software, stay for the community" seems so... navel-gazing to me. (If you feel this should be moved to a different list feel free to suggest one; the wiki page on the topic got locked, the GDO post got locked, the bug related to it got closed...) -D
Hi Domenic, Yes, this was discussed countless times and will probably be discussed until eternity. See http://groups.drupal.org/node/66353 and http://groups.drupal.org/node/7634 for some of the background as well as http://drupal.org/node/850278. Hi, Gábor, Indeed, I came here after reading each of those links since they were locked after accusations of bikeshedding without any substantive discussion (eg., input from marketing folks) as far as I could tell. The bug in the redesign tracker was closed because the new slogan had "already been implemented" (cunning!). After Kieran's stunt here (http://groups.drupal.org/node/66353#comment-200003) I am understandably curious as to where the process stands. The slogan proposal wiki was opened three years ago, so saying it lacked substantive discussion should not be due to lack of time. I'm sure this question will be brought up again and again especially as the new site comes up, and everybody will have their opinions anyway. As I've said, I think this will be continued until eternity, it is definitely easy to have (conflicting) opinions about. What if we allowed anyone in the community to submit a short phrase to put there, vet them for profanity, and rotate 5 random "community submitted" phrases on every page load. It would be even cooler if we put names up there and the phrase were in quotes. Am I volunteering to vet phrases? If I must, then I volunteer. I, however, do not have the social contacts necessary to bring this about in the community. The only downside that I can see is that no one really "wins" and we don't have "one phrase." But isn't that the point of what we're trying to accomplish? We are stronger together than when we are divided on details. Josh On Fri, Oct 15, 2010 at 3:31 AM, Gábor Hojtsy <gabor@hojtsy.hu> wrote:

Just as a friendly reminder, this is the *development* list. Not the re-hash-heated-arguments-held-dozens-of-places-elsewhere list. ;) When you send a mail to this list, it goes to *thousands* of our project's busiest and hardest working people. Please keep mails on-topic. Speaking of on-topic, there's a post which explains the established process for suggesting improvements to the Drupal.org redesign on the front page right now: http://drupal.org/node/940862 There you can find next actionable steps for your suggestions. Thanks for QAing. -Angie On 2010-10-15, at 5:52 AM, Josh wrote:
