[support] Visualizing regions in Zen theme

Newbie questions on D7: While I can visualize how regions are organized in Zen (structure->blocks->demonstrate block regions), where does this information come from? It does not seem to correspond to page.tpl.php. Also, is there any way I can similarly visualize how regions are organized on other pages? If so, how? Thanks.
