[drupal-support] Authentication Module for local users

Hi, I've somehow managed to write an authentication module. However, users are required to enter the username as username@server before it gets activated. Would it be possible to direct all logins (with and without the @server part) to this module? The only exception should be the admin account (which I will use for admin purposes). Best regards. Frank
