Fwd: Account details for sandysuac at Tony-Mac Website Design and Development (pending admin approval)
Dear All, I occasionally get messages like below even though my site is very small and without a login block/form. Is this spam or legit? How can I block such requests? Thanks Tony ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: < Date: Thu, Sep 22, 2011 at 2:39 PM Subject: Account details for sandysuac at Tony-Mac Website Design and Development (pending admin approval) To: sandysuac has applied for an account. http://tony-mac.com/drupal/**user/70/edit<http://tony-mac.com/drupal/user/70/edit> -- *tony maciejowski** | analyst/programmer | websites | www.tony-mac.com<t_maciejowski@hotmail.com> * *Twitter: anntosh* | *Cell: 323.899.6206* | *Linked-In:* *Anthony Maciejowski*
Spam bots are probably finding the user URL (http://example.com/user) and the subsequent 'create account' link. You need to prevent anonymous users from creating accounts. In Drupal 6 visit admin/user/settings In Drupal 7 visit admin/config/people/accounts Alternatively, if you do wish to have anonymous users create accounts but prevent spam, you could add a captcha to the account creation form. Do you mean (under D7) the setting under: *Who can register accounts?* I changed it to admin only. On Thu, Sep 22, 2011 at 2:58 PM, Carl Wiedemann <carl.wiedemann@gmail.com>wrote:
