Summary

The list for Drupal core developers

The Core list exists for developers to be able to communicate with one another and discuss the technical issues around Drupal core. Valid topics of discussions include code, patches, bug reports, and detailed suggestions for future code.
Keep in mind that bug reports and feature requests should be submitted using the Drupal web site's bug tracker.
Messages should be short and to the point. Never spend four paragraphs explaining what can be done in two sentences.
When asking questions make sure to check the archives and documentation before posting to the list, failure to do so may result in the message being ignored.
Do not bring up old discussions unless there is new vitally important information. Extra opinions do not matter, facts and proof mater.
Messages should only be replied to when there is important information to add. Only quote the key points when replying to the list, everyone else will have the previous message and can look it up for more information. All quoted material should be recognizable, by starting the line with one > for each level of quoting. Do not quote signatures or entire messages. The new message should come after the quote.
All messages should be in plain text, HTML mail or other weird formats will annoy several important people on the list.
All messages to the list should be in English. English may not be the native language of most people, but try to use proper spelling and grammar, but most mistakes will be forgiven. Punctuation and proper capitalization is a must, failure to this will not be forgiven. Keep offensive and heated language to a minimum.
Do not vote on patches or ideas for the sole purpose of voting. When the urge to vote is too great make sure there is a good reason behind the vote, and include the explanation! Generally it is best to just resist the urge to vote, instead post a review of the patch or suggestions for improvement.
Keep signatures to a minimum. Any message that has a signature longer than the message body will be frowned upon.
Stay on topic!
