Hello, here is report back on the results of the Drupal Association
membership pricing survey. The Drupal Association has not made any
decisions on these results yet.
1. Individual pricing sensitivity
graph<http://association.drupal.org/system/files/individual-pricing-sensitivity.jpg>-
optimal price $30 with ~90% not too expensive or too cheap. Read
more. <http://association.drupal.org/node/102>
How many people might buy this membership?
Drupal.org currently has over 9000 unique visitors a month and over 10
Million page views per month, with 250% growth/year. Drupal.org has over
150,000 user accounts so it's important to ensure the pricing is accessible
to the maximum number of people.
2. Corporate pricing sensitivity
graph<http://association.drupal.org/system/files/corporate_pricing_sensitivity.jpg>-
optimal price $100 with ~93% not too expensive or too cheap. Read
more. <http://association.drupal.org/node/103>
Why are the corporate pricing responses so cheap?
35% of corporations/organizations are actually 1 person companies. 71% of
corporations have 5 or less people. Drupal companies are overwhelmingly
small companies or organizations. Allowing for 93% of Drupal companies to
participate in supporting the Drupal project and infrastructure is important
to make sure the community is well represented. Higher prices may also
require more effort to justify this business expense going forward. You can
use the graphs to determine how many people would consider a different price
too expensive or too cheap.
3. What potential benefits would respondents to this question pay
for?<http://association.drupal.org/node/104>
i. 54.9% (392) - free attendance at Drupal Conference events and early
access to registration
Drupal Conferences are held on two continents and only a few people would
benefit from a membership that factored in conference fees into it's
pricing.
ii. 53.6% (379) -listing in member services directory (e.g. designer,
developer, which industries you specialize in serving)
