Hi Folks,
A great group of Drupal folks from San Francisco are putting together what
looks like a fantastic proposal for DrupalCon 2010.
They've got a web site launched at: http://drupalconsf2010.org/
Unfortunately, the proposed conference dates, March 29 - 31, are during the
first two nights of Passover when Jews gather with their families and
friends to conduct the Passover "seder," a reenactment of the leaving of
Egypt. This is probably the most compelling Jewish ritual there is and even
very assimilated Jews take part in this ceremony. There has been a lot of
creativity around this ritual in recent years which makes it even more
compelling for even marginally religious Jews.
I'm Jewish and I personally know a lot of Jewish Drupal developers. I just
think it would be a shame to force us to have to make this choice.
Anyway, it would be great if folks advocated against these dates in support
of Jewish Drupal developers.
I think the best way to voice this right now is on Twitter, though I think
I'll start a thread on drupal.org and post back here. The relevant Twitter
accounts are @DrupalConSF and maybe @dries as well.
Thanks in advance for those who are supportive of this objection.
Shai
