The only thing I have to add to Alex' excellent intervention is, if you are
on this list and mystified because, hey, why are people here discussing all
of this stuff, the answer is that we are living in a very weird moment, in
which a bunch of stuff that does not commonly happen is happening, and many
of us are frankly very concerned.
Concerned about wars, massacres, unemployment, record number of foreclosures
in the US ... and on this list, extremely concerned about something called
the "Drupal bubble"... I am very concerned about my future as a freelance
contractor, but not because I can't find work... This year I have twice the
number of billable hours than last year.
This year is the best year I have ever had as a freelance contractor.
That's what I am worried about... I want to know why it is happening... and
I am concerned that the roots of this "bonanza" are such that no way can it
last in the same way... the Drupal bubble is a direct reflection of large
companies moving to open source as a form of oursourcing, with thousands of
engineers in all major companies (also many going through "merge" and
"destruction" processes) being let go.
And what is bad for some people working for a living is bad for all working
people, because what goes around comes around.
