I didn't know about that one specifically, but I bet there are many more open
menu items that you haven't found yet. It is quite easy to code a MENU_CALLBACK
that doesn't show up anywhere in a menu but is quite open to the world. Indeed I
have done this myself. You can always code a hook_menu_alter() to block it or
add a permission to the callback.
I learn something new on every project, some good, some bad. Some I find, some I
invent.
One I "learned" today is that with a bit of CSS and using the CCK field settings
and Display settings, one can likely eliminate most Contemplate
and type-specific templates. Well, okay, I knew most of the idea, but this is
the first opportunity to really, really use it.

Subject: [consulting] I Can't Believe I Just Learned that Today
I can't believe that I just learned today that:
There is a site-wide rss path always viewable at: example.com/rss.xml
(displaying the feed icon is irrelevant to the existence of the feed). It
1. is built by pulling in ALL nodes that have the "promote to front" toggle on
and are "published".
2. cannot be turned off (without the help
of http://drupal.org/project/rss_permissions or path_redirect etc...)
I guess once I really started using and mastering Views, I kinda stopped paying
attention to a bunch of the stuff that Drupal does on its own.
I've been using Drupal for 5 years! (only about 2 years professionally).
Sheesh.
Tomorrow I start on my first D7 site. If this hasn't changed... then I'll get
busy in the D8 queue.
What did you just learn that it so basic yet you didn't know it? Did you know
this one?
