Sure, it is in my sandbox, apply split.patch against HEAD, run split.php 
from a browser, and to switch on split.mode use $conf = array('split_mode' 
=> 1);

The split script ATM assumes that you have a directory named files and it is 
writeable by the browser. It will refuse to run otherwise.
