I agree that they are insecure, But sometimes you needn't care much about security.
What if I'm using it as an internal system for an office. And that system is not exposed ?
Is the security the main concern here ? Yes I'd still worry about security but I can
lower the priority of such thing.
I'd say that we keep it for historical purpose, It's the same why previous releases of
many FOSS software are kept.
