[development] Question regarding the edit array

Except it did (and it does).  This is in the context of the module  
"Site user list" -- the function is site_user_list_show.  And  
although I know how to "fix" the problem (just get rid of the 'edit'  
part of the $_REQUEST array), I'm wondering _why_ this change  
occured, and whether there are other ways of solving my problem that  
I should be using instead...
