This implies that one must post a reply if one want to subscribe to a thread. 
That's not much different from what people already do: post a comment with the 
only word "subscribing" within the comment. We often see that in issues.

What is often requested is to be able to subscribe to a thread/issue without 
having to post any comment.




I use this opportunity to thank Arthur for his work on the subscriptions 
module.
And also a cvs tip for Arthur:
When you commit a change, just start your comment with #10123 where 10123 is 
the node ID of the corresponding issue. Drupal will expand that into a direct 
link to the issue here:
