For everyone's information:

The jQuery interface demos at http://interface.eyecon.ro/demos work
flawlessly in my installations of Firefox 2.0, with no performance
downgrade, while working with many other windows open, including
several with fckEditor.
No problems with speed.
I have the web developer plugin running also, as well as the tidy plugin.

On Konqueror, it works also, with the error message limitations
mentioned here earlier.
