i am unsure who you define as "we" but if it's the reason that Drupal
is distributed under the GPL then i would be severly disappointed.
personally, i understand the purpose of the GPL (as opposed something
like the BSD license) is to ensure that developments are returned to
the community and that the code remains free.
the "spirit" of the GPL can only be captured by capturing the spirit
of freedom. this means accepting that people may use certain aspects
of that freedom in a manner contrary to you expectation or wishes.
