I tried to find a volunteer to fix this 2 years ago. Since you're not 
volunteering, you're just rehashing. Perhaps you should just roll the 
patch rather than telling other people what to do.

It's also already been removed from core, so there's nothing to fix 
anymore: http://drupal.org/node/556136
