[development] Anyone using shorturl?

I'm obviously not doing something right. I'm trying to set up fane.com 
as an url shortener.

I have shorturl and shorten set up, and I've specified fane.com as a 
service.
I'm a little confused about the API endpoint URL, so may not have that 
set up right.

If I enter a url, i get that same exact url back.
For instance, I get this message back instead of a short url.

/http://rubicontheatre.org// was shortened to /http://rubicontheatre.org/

Latest Drupal 6.x
Any ideas?
