[documentation] Introduction

Hello, all,

As one who has been helped by the existing documentation, I'm glad to start
contributing back.

I'm particularly interested in developing documentation targeted to new users to
help them get up to speed more quickly, and with a minimum of hassle.

I've been meaning to join the list for a while -- glad to be here.
