More important, I think, would be to close the comment boards on the
book pages. While I like php's documentation process of allowing users
to post updates to the main page of information
(http://www.php.net/manual/en/), more often than not the comment boards
are in appropriately used as support space.
IMHO, as for closing the add book page to joe user, I tend to like the
wiki way of allowing any in a community to create new pages, and indeed,
allowing everyone to have edit permissions for the pages so that they
get updated and revised. Then some of the information that has been
posted into comments on book pages and in the forums which is useful
documentation would get updated into the page itself.
