Sorry I'm a little late too the conversation (been out of town). But I 
think (a) and (b) are also a subset or related to the idea of featuring 
one's work. For creative people, I could imagine that one of the most 
popular uses would be as a portfolio or as a marketing tool for 
promoting one's work (getting feedback or selling might or might not be 
a part of this).
