I took a look around and found one promising diff module in Contrib. 
You can view a demo at http://www.eglug.org/node/359/diff/1/0. This is 
powered by the module at 
http://cvs.drupal.org/viewcvs/drupal/contributions/sandbox/alaa/diff/. 
It shouldn't be hard to build some email functionality on top of this.
