Hi!
Some messages in the code needs better wording. I specifically know two
that I have written.
'It appears your host is not configured correctly for Clean URLs. Please
check for <code>ModRewrite</code> support with your administrator.'
this resulted in much confusion -- when ModRewrite is on but the
configuration is such a one that the rewrite rule we supply with Drupal
does not work then people say 'hey i have modrewrite on'.
'Your settings are not saved because of the errors above'
uh, this sounds odd. yet it is necessary -- the problem here is that with
forms API , the admin/settings screen does not save if you have any error,
for example, you lack the files directory which is pretty common. And
there is no indication of the fact that the form you see below is not
saved. So a message is necessary but it needs (much) better wording. Also,
because the settings form is a very generic one, a gazillion of admin
forms are rendered using this function, loose the word 'above', as it is
possible that some errors will be displayed below this message.
If something is not clear about these messages, feel free to contact me in
person, on IRC, here on the list, I am happy to help you, but these
messages should be understandable very soon now, ie. before 4.7RC.
Regards
NK
