While I posted this comment as part of the large ongoing discussion
thread, I want to bring everyone's attention to it since it's easily
lost.

The text of the comment is:

FYI, as part of a "bug" fix to the book module, whoever edits a book
page now becomes the page's author. This may make the situation [newer
users contributing and updating handbook pages] more complicated,
since if someone on the doc team edits a page, the original author
will no longer be able to edit it (AFAIK). See:
