[support] node creation problem for newbie...

Image assist should be displaying a list of any images you have uploaded
from your galleries and allowing you to create new image node. Having
an image node for each image you upload is what facilitates the
auto-scaling. You then set for the images all the different sizes you
want.

You can also configure image assist to not let people choose alternate
scalings, I'd recommend you take a close look at the configuration
options for img_assist to taylor the image insert you need.

Another alternative would be to think of your images as an extra field
in you node, but you'll lose the ability to control position on per node
basis. If that sounds like what you want consider the powerful
combination of CCK, Image-cache and image fields module.

There are other plugins available for TinyMCE that might facilitate
this, but if you don't want any nodes created from your images, you're
probably looking at an extension to fck editor or somehting along those
lines. I think you'd be wanting to look outside of drupal for that.

thanks for reply. we can get images into posts and i've done it alot. we
have image assist installed and yes there is a little image button in
posting page for nodes. what seems to happen is that it just opens a new
window with the entire 'post new image' screen, with body, teaser,
publishing options etc right there, as if you were creating a whole new
node. confusing and not really what i need.

what i have been doing is just clicking the img button in fck, putting
in a url, width, position attributes and so it shows up in the text
editor in fck. way too many steps and i end up doing it several times to
get it right.

we need just a simple image association for posts that will allow
uploads and then drop the image into the teaser and the body, resized
and positioned automatically. are we not using the image assist mod
properly.
