[support] When D7 will be avaible ?

D6 was being promoted from the front page of d.o from the first day of its release. This is why the forums filled up with "port to D6?".

I'm glad to see changes have been made. They've been made for a reason...they were needed.

Neil, I think "farce" is a real exaggeration and isn't fair. Anyone scratching the surface at all in their research of Drupal would would have easily discovered that CCK and Views were essential components and that they weren't going to be ready for some time after D6 release.

I just can't believe that serious people make business decisions without doing research. I think 15 minutes of research by someone completely new to the community would have revealed exactly what the release of D6 meant.

I do think it was a PR problem and there was lots of disappointment. And I think adjustments have been made.

In addition, don't forget ot compound this question with, "when will the contrib modules for the site be available on D7". Many contrib module maintainers have vowed to have releases ready on the d7 release date, but you'll want to check that before you commit to your client. Good luck....

An addendum to what Hans wrote. It is not as if there are 412 official bugs that have to get solved and that the number of critical bugs is always reduced. There are still a lot of bugs being found as well. That number goes up as well as down.

According to d.o. there are currently only 400 installations of D7 "phoning home" to d.o. The peak was 1,000 installs during the week of Oct. 4. But a lot of commits were made during code "slush." There are a lot of really great changes, but there are also a lot more bugs to report.

So download D7, play around, find and report those bugs.

As for Greg's hubdub thingy, in March, '09 I predicted: after April 1, 2010. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take home some "money" on that one!

You can see some interest on the topic at
        http://www.hubdub.com/m35392/When_will_Drupal_70_be_released

The more people who sign up and bet on that question, the more likely
        it is to be accurate.

        Cheers,
        Greg
