Guys the biggest difference between the two apps seems to be reporting
capabilities , that said civi can do some things sforce cannot.

Hi Sam-

It depends on what you mean when you say, "CRM"

Saleforce is clearly focused on tracking/expediting marketing/sales
functions; CiviCRM is much more focused on addressing needs faced by
NGO's/nonprofit organizations. You can build simple address books/contact
managers with cck/views, but it will take you a long time to develop the
feature set of more mature CRM apps, and even then, what usually ends up
happening with CRM develoment is that once you've mapped a business practice
and modeled it in your CRM app, the business practice changes.

There is not "one size fits all" here: you need to map specific requirements
to specific environments and needs. The most critical requirement for a CRM
is a client who is invested in making it work. If you've got a client who
wants you to implement a CRM solution so that they don't have to manage it,
run away, quickly (but politely).

Hi all,

I've been getting more and more requests for CRM integration. Does anyone
know if anyone has written a good article/comparison on the various CRM
options as they relate to Drupal, particularly comparing CiviCRM to the
others. (or does anyone want to share their experience here)

It would also be good to know if anyone recommends creating CRM
functionality in Drupal with CCK/Views instead instead of integrating.

There's an existing Drupal group for CRM integration that includes active
discussion on Salesforce integration, it can be found here:

There seems to be quite a few people interested in getting Drupal and
Salesforce integrated, a lot of work has already taken place and is ongoing
at the moment so best to keep discussions in a central place....

We're about to start on Saleseforce integration for two clients, and I just
realized that there is no g.d.o group for salesforce integration.

I just submitted one: http://groups.drupal.org/saleseforce . Assuming it's
accepted, this would probably be a good space to continue this conversation.
We'll definitely use the group to post our findings as we go along.

Check out the salesforce module: http://drupal.org/project/salesforce

The current maintainers are doing a great job, and an official release is
not far away, with usable downloads now available.

Hello all,

I've looked into the Salesforce module, but I don't know much about making
it work with our current system. Basically we need to migrate from a site
that already works with Salesorce into a drupal site that can do the same
thing.

Is there anyone out there with some experience in this area?

Thanks,

Mark
