While that would be appreciated, there also have been suggestions to move away from simplenews and use chx' rewritten subscription(s?) module for it.
Subscriptions module is in no way ready for use yet. I've got a stack of usability issues that I'm starting to fill out (where did my RSS feeds go?!)
