Updating drupal.org to Drupal 6 release candidate
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi there, it is a time honoured tradition that drupal.org is updated to the first release candidate of a new Drupal release as soon as this is available. The first RC of D6 is now available, now when is that update going to happen? The answer is unfortunately: Not very soon. The reason is not the release candidate but the multiple dependencies that drupal.org has. The most well known is probably the project module and it's many friends. However, there are also other dependencies of which I can't find a D6-ready release or some attempt at one (image.module and simplenews for example). Project* has it's own roadmap on the D6 update here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/6180 While I am not entirely happy with the order of the items (I'd obviously prefer to have points 10 and 11 at the top), there is at least something to look at. Also, people who would like to see d.o updated do know how they can help. Unfortunately, there aren't that many people who are eager to help. What I am trying to do is to establish a timeline of when d.o could be updated. So I'd like the maintainers (or other knowledgable parties) to speak up and tell me what their guestimates for updates to D6 are: - - project - - project_issues - - versioncontrol - - views - - image - - image_gallery - - image_attach - - simplenews - - lists - - feature Cheers, Gerhard -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHdpROfg6TFvELooQRAq1UAJ9otQ4pb1veB/DOYFMUnTZjy4tIAgCfWe+w awu0DgZI3+YLejToiw87N6s= =Hexe -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Views 2 is working, although there is still a need for handlers and a user interface to be developed. Also, at the moment, Merlin is working on Panels, but on December 31st, Beta 1 will be released and his focus will shift to Views. The following two have been maintained by 2bits for 2 release cycles. So, we will do them for this cycle too. - - lists

Can you please confirm that what is in CVS is the latest used on d.o? It should take about 10 days to get them ready. There used to be a donation module, but I think this moved to the Association web site now, so no rush to move it to 6.x. -- Khalid M. Gerhard These two are done, and committed to HEAD, where I got the code from there. I did some testing and they do work. Let me know if they need more work, preferrably via the issue queue for each project.

Thanks Khalid! Unfortunately, I am still missing anwers for the simplenews module and image... Cheers, Gerhard -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHfWTHfg6TFvELooQRAh0tAKCqndqLKfL75F/OJQ7V9rmKNoDYsQCgk9x0 fNQKvuYTU1dd08BGPJBGlco= =kZVd -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Image has a lot of work done but still needs someone to do the push to finish it up. The holidays took a lot of time away from me and I will be traveling for work all next week but if no one gets it done by the time I get back around the 14th, I will try to finish it. http://drupal.org/node/181809 Addi (aka add1sun) On Jan 3, 2008, at 5:42 PM, Gerhard Killesreiter wrote:

Unfortunately, there is a bug in the lists.module. Some menu stuff. I will post in devel about it so we all benefit from chx's reply on it. Features module should be fine.

Both modules have been fixed, and committed to HEAD. They are D6 ready now. I have not branched them to DRUPAL-6 yet, but will do so once they are tested on scratch.d.o.
simplenews lists 2 folks as maintainers, RobRoy and Sutharson. If neither of them turn up and are willing to upgrade it in the next few days so, I can do it. It doesn't look too complicated.

While that would be appreciated, there also have been suggestions to move away from simplenews and use chx' rewritten subscription(s?) module for it. The bonus here is that we can enable subscribe for project issues, and hence we don't have the noise associated with "subscribing ..." from various people to issues. But dww or hunmonk have to confirm that people will not be emailed twice once by project_* for those who commented on an issue and then again by subscriptions.

Obviously, if we enabled subscriptions on issues via subscriptions.module, we'd rip out the corresponding code in project_issue for doing it ourselves. http://drupal.org/node/34496 -Derek (dww)

An extra bonus would be the ability to UNsubscribe to an issue. ;-) Particularly when an issue devolves into debating minutiae that may be mind-numbing to a subscriber.

Subscriptions module is in no way ready for use yet. I've got a stack of usability issues that I'm starting to fill out (where did my RSS feeds go?!) And, subscription serves a completely different purpose than sending out newsletters....which is what simplenews does and is specifically designed to do. -- Boris Mann Office 604-682-2889 http://www.bryght.com Jabber boris@bryght.com Skype borismann

This is the only related issue I was able to find: http://drupal.org/node/201819

Sorry for the late reply, I've been out of town with a brick of a laptop. As Addison indicated the image module update is in progress. andrew
