Ber , Morbus and all,
Would you consider stepping back a moment and thinking as a non- developer? This is the kind of decision that ought to fall on the shoulders of a user-relations team and not developers.
I am not sure why my name is in that list. I posted -as a comment- on Dries's site that I am very much in favor of NOT upgrading. I run most of my sites on 4.6 and will continue doing so, untill I see a very good reason to upgrade. Having the latest nitty gritty coolness and ajaxyness is not a reason to upgrade. « Never fix something that aint broken » If I had sites running on 4.5, I would have ported the security patches to these versions. But unfortunately the only sites on < 4.6 are no longer suppported by me, or are discontinued. but for 4.6 we will most probably keep support for a long time. Therefore I beleive we should NOT just remove the stuff, nor "officially not-support". But: This requires maintainers! We need people to manage and support the older versions. I have heard Dries say, over and over, that if there are people willing to do this, he will continue support for any version. Bèr
