This category select tool looks pretty neat. However, it wouldn't help all that much if you've got 100+ categories to sort through (from what I saw of it). We've started to implement this tool for another project: http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/filterlist/ Could be a very handy way to sift through a long selection on a drupal site.
