[drupal-support] re-inventing the wheel

I've seen a number of Drupal sites where one can click on a link to donate (e.g. political campaign web sites). The user is then presented a form to fill in some required information and then given a button to go to Paypal to finish the transaction and donation with a credit card. Building the page to go to Paypal is the easy part. But what techniques are people using to capture data and then forward the user to the next page? I'd rather not re-invent the wheel, and I'd also like to avoid having to implement a module to do this. Surely there is an easier way. Any suggestions or sample code I could look at out there? [drupal-support] Drupal Insert Image & Taxonomy Aware URLs

Hi, I don't seem to be able to get any of the uploaded images to appear in the "Drupal Insert Image" dialog box. The classes load, but the image listing doesn't. If I put the URL in the "Image URL" text field and press the preview button nothing is previewed. I'm also trying to get URLs working that are based on Taxomony and titles, but have not found the documentation to do so. Regards Geoff Deering

I'm confused about setting up multi-sites. I've read the forums and the instructions but when I go to www.site2.com it is still using the database for www.site1.com. Any ideas? Shawn

[drupal-support] What would you recommend for photo albums?

Hello everyone, I'm trying to decide which module to use to manage photo albums in my website. Ideally, I'd like to be able to upload about 20-50 pictures per day and then be able to add descriptions and sort them by date, group and the like. Apparently, "image galleries", "photo album", and "gallery" modules seem to provide similar functionality, but it is hard to know which one would be the best for me. What do people use? What would you recommend? Thanks so much for your help, Leo

[drupal-support] Installation: Registering first user silently fails.

Hi, I've just now installed the latest version of drupal onto my web server. I set up the database and edited the appropriate settings file, but my installation doesn't work. I go to my new drupal website, click to register my first user, but nothing happens when I submit the form. Nothing happens when I try to submit a login form or a lost password form either; the pages just reload blank. If you need more details, let me know, but I have a hunch this is a more common problem. I tried searching, but the best I could find was a post mentioning this problem and going on to explain a different similar problem the poster had. [drupal-support] Getting killed by spam

Hello, Over the past few days, I have been getting absolutely killed by spam. I am getting hundreds of spams per day that are slipping the spam module undetected. They seem very obvious, but it seems that due to their very large length, the spam module is ignoring them. I submitted an issue http://drupal.org/node/27035 on this, but haven't heard any response. Alas, I'm no PHP hacker and probably can't fix this on my own, but if it continues I am going to have to move all of my sites to some other software. I really like Drupal otherwise, and I'm hoping maybe somebody here has some advice for me. Thanks, -- John

That is an awful lot of entries in your accesslog. I wonder if that is not something to do with that? [drupal-support] How to use MySQL last_insert_id function with locking?

Hi, I am developing my own module which uses tables that have auto-increment fields. As far as I can tell, drupal uses a single connection for my default configuration. I don't think i think use last_insert_id without locking because the MySQL DB connection is shared accross requests. so what should I lock in order to get the correct result from last_insert_id? Please give me an example. Thanks. Kai
