How to relate nodes to a category

Hello: I am new to the list and am wondering why I cant get so little support with Drupal (either thru forum/documentation/search ), so this is my last attempt to get somewhere. I am creating new nodes in my module which I want to relate to an existing category. Does anybody know how to do this? Thank you Manfredo Hopp

how to add blocks to place in regions on my home page

I have a feeling there will be a very simple answer to this question, but I've searched and searched in the documentation and I just can't seem to hit on the right information to guide me. I'm setting up a new site in Drupal (5.2). I managed to get it installed and configured with very little problem, and I've created a new theme and added some content. What I need to do now is set up the home page for the site, which, instead of having one big area for content, will have that area divided into four sections, like this ----------------- | | | | ----------------- | | | | | | | --------- | | | | | | ----------------- each of which needs to be editable by the site owner. I've created regions by defining them in my template.php file, and added the regions to my theme so the are now appearing correctly on the home page. I believe what I need to do next is create some new blocks to place in those regions, and then the site owner can simply edit those blocks as needed. So my questions are: 1) Do I have the right idea with creating regions and placing editable blocks inside those regions? 2) How do I create a new block and ensure that it is editable by the site owner? I've seen mention a few times that I should to to "administer > blocks > add block" but I don't see this option in my site admin; the closest thing to it is "administer > site building > blocks", but this page does not include an "add block" function. I have a feeling that either I'm missing some crucial piece of information, or the documentation I've been reading is not for the version I'm using, or something in my site config is preventing me from seeing all the options/functions I should see in my site admin - or some combination of the above :) Hopefully some kind soul will be able to point me in the right direction! Public photoblog setup in Drupal?

Hi I need to add quickly a public photoblog to my existing Drupal site. It's got to be 'public' and 'mobile', which means everybody can post, and they can do it via e-mail. Posts emailed by non-registered users should remain pending moderation. I'd also like to have some sort of taxonomy (nested, if possible, so I can use tagadelic and apply a specific theme to the photoblog nodes) Given the above requirements, can somebody recommend the best solution in Drupal 5.x? I have experimented with some modules, but it's quite difficult to know how to mix them. There is also a 'photoblog' module (does not seem to support email postings) and a 'mobile media blog' module (lacks documentation, so I haven't found what does it add to mailhandler and mailsave features) Thanks in advance for your quick replies. -- Albert

Hi William and Stefan, Just tested the function, it works fine. I now get the node title within the Subject of the message. Problems with hook_form_alter

Hi list, I'm having some difficulties with the hook_form_alter() usage (docs - http://api.drupal.org/api/function/hook_form_alter/5). I made a custom module - which is for one site only - to improve the browsing/admin' experience for the new site admins on one of my websites. In my example.module, I have the following code: function example_form_alter($form_id, &$form) { //print $form_id; // Change the standard 'selectbox' to 'radiobuttons' if (($form_id == 'story_node_form') && ($form['taxonomy'])) { //print $form['taxonomy']['1']['#type']; $form['taxonomy']['1']['#type'] = 'radios'; //print $form['taxonomy']['1']['#type']; } } Uncommenting both "print $form['taxonomy']['1']['#type'];" reveal that $form['taxonomy']['1']['#type'] was indeed set to use radio buttons instead of the normal dropdown select box. Though, it does *not* renders it like radio buttons.. Has anyone an idea on why it isn't working? And how this could be fixed? I'm using Drupal 5.2 for development of this particular domain atm. Hi, I am looking to do a slight modification in my Drupal installation within the *Private*msg module. Below my nodes, I added a contact author link and now I want to display the Title of the node within the Subject Field of the message. multisite file structure - doubling up folders in path?

I wanted to add a module, so I put it in where the others are: /var/www/drupal-5/sites/urbanorganicc.jeangazis.com/modules I see the module in the Drupal admin screens as normal, but with this error message on the settings page: "Could not find the TinyMCE engine installed at sites/urbanorganic.jeangazis.com/modules/tinymce/tinymce/. Please download TinyMCE, uncompress it and copy the folder into sites/urbanorganic.jeangazis.com/modules/tinymce." Why is it doubling up the module folder when it looks for it? The module files are exactly where it says to put them. I think this is the same as the images problems I've been having (not seeing uploaded images, doubling up thumbnail and preview files). Is this a multisite file structure thing or is it the file setup on the site that I need to fix? (Does it need to be fixed in the Drupal installation or in my site settings?) patching drupal to account for daylight savings time

(I posted this question to the "Post installation" forum as well, not sure if I'm more likely to get a response there or here.) I am a recent convert to Drupal, and have just finished installing and configuring it for a site I'm developing. The only problem I had during the config process was setting the timezone. The site is in the Atlantic timezone (-0400), but when I choose this option currently, the time is one hour behind. I could set the timezone to -0500, but that wouldn't be correct, and I'd have to remember to change it twice a year. Anyway, I found this patch http://drupal.org/node/11077 which seems to do what I need, but I can't get the patch applied. So I have two questions: 1) Right now I'm working on this site on my development server, so I have shell access and can apply the patch. What happens if I move the site to the client's host and don't have shell access in order to apply the patch? 2) The patch itself did not work (see below) - any idea why? I'm guessing maybe there is a more up-to-date version or something, but I have no idea where to look for it. can't find file to patch at input line 88 Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option? making it easy for end-users to update one static page

I have a site where the client will need to update one page weekly. I'd like to make it easy, by having the page basic content stay unchanged, and have them input just the changing information through a form. How do I make the most recent form content appear within the static page? Can I do it with a view?
