Seeking Advice on Integrating drupal

I need some consultation. I've used Drupal for lightweight deployments (mostly personal blogs). But I've got a potential client who is interested in drupal for e-commerce. We're thinking through a couple of issues, and we'd like some advice: Our client uses MSSQL for their inventory, etc. Since drupal doesn't support anything but mysql and pgsql, and since their tables would be different from drupal's regardless, we're trying to work out the best way to handle integrating drupal into their existing infrastructure. We've considered writing a script to pull data from one database and use it to update the other. We've also considered hacking the relevant modules (Ubercart) to do this on demand. Does anyone have experience with this?

Clean urls

I'm having an issue getting clean urls to work. I'm set-up on a shared hosting plan, and my host verified mod_rewrite is already enabled on the server side. I tried different settings in .htaccess, but nothing seems to work. Here's the interesting part: When I run the "clean URL test" it passes and the radio buttons to enable clean urls become functional. However, after selecting enable, then clicking save configuration, the selection defaults back to disabled. My drupal install is located in a directory called httpdocs, which I was told is equivalent to /var/www. I did not put the drupal install in a folder of its own, rather I just installed all the files in the httpdocs directory. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks, Troy

Block visibility quandry

I have a block which I show on a user's main page, user/1, user/2, etc. I have set block visibility to "only show on pages" with user/* entered below. Unfortunately, it's also showing on user/register, user/password. I don't suppose I can use regular expressions to make the wildcard ONLY numeric, can I? How would I get the block to show on user/7 but not user/register? Thanks Neil

Upgrading Drupal 4.7.2 to 5.7 and CCK breaks existing Paging

I'm upgrading a Drupal 4.7.2 site to 5.7, I've done this several times before but this is the first time I've run into this particular issue. Paging has stopped working. I already posted this as a support request at http://drupal.org/node/258014, but there were no responses so I thought I'd try here to see if anyone else has come across this. Building a 5.7 site for Jazz Club

Hello, I am not really a PHP guy, but I like Drupal better than Joomla even though it seems to require more skills, which kinda scare me. Sometime I feel I am not good enough to understand Drupal documentation. Anyway, I volunteered to build a site for a jazz club we have been performing for many years. The requirements as follow: - Show schedule - Dinner menu with specials - Performer info linked to schedule - Blog for show reviews - Weekly email for upcoming shows Questions: · Show schedule: I started with Event module. Is this the best option for my needs, or anyone knows something better? The first problem I encountered was that I can't find the way to change the Calendar page title from Events to Schedule: <http://s244141005.onlinehome.us/event> If anyone has any suggestion, appreciate it. I like this Calendar than Calendar module one. · Dinner menu: I was hoping there were a module for this, but I couldn't find any so I am about to jump onto CCK, hoping someone has better idea before I start. I am not too crazy about TinyMCE. It is much easier for me to do HTML coding for better control, but the jazz club has to be able to do this by themselves, and they don't do HTML. The problem with CCK image field is when there is no image assigned to it. It comes up with [?]. How others are dealing with this issue? · I need to make a routine for the owner to send out emails to their patrons for next week's show once a week. hello, We are using drupal for our intranet. Users need to work with multiple modules at once, so they open e.g. SMS module in one window and EMAIL module in another ... sometimes they experience "Validation error, please try again. If this error persists, please contact the site administrator." errors. Can one user work with multiple windows/tabs? thanks

How can I tell if a user if a user is a member of an OG group?

I would like to show a link on a group node if a user is a member and another link if they are not. I looked through og.module and found the $subscription variable. I tried both the following without any success: <?php if($subscription == 'active') : ?> already a member! <?php else: ?> Join Today! <?php endif; ?> <?php if($subscription) : ?> already a member! <?php else: ?> Join Today! <?php endif; ?> But I'm getting "Join Today" showing whether the user is a member or not. I imagine this means the $subscription variable isn't available in this context. does anyone know how to find out if a user is a member of an OG group? Neil

extra period in Account details admin mail

Hi, this is my first message to the list, hope someone can help me... I'm getting an odd error in the admin email messages sent when a new member has signed up and is pending approval. The messages are the standard "Joe Smith has applied for an account. http://website.net./user/8/edit" but there's a period being added after the site name and before the / user. I haven't seen this with any other drupal installations I have on other domains - at least that I can remember. This is with Drupal 5.7. Any ideas how to fix this? It's not a major issue, but it's good to be able to click the link in the email notification and go straight to the user's page to activate their accounts. Thanks, Paul Collett

acces denied (session problem?) 5.7

I'm experiencing a similar problem described in many posts that seems related to session handling. I'm using PHP 5.0.4. User log in... but it get the access denied page. That happens randomly... sometimes they can login, sometimes they can't. The problem seems related to the client setup... since I can't reproduce the problem here... but still... they are experiencing this problem just with drupal on that hosting. They are using IE7. I've tested with IE7 and never experienced the same problem. A first step would be to identify what's different in their setup that make them experience this problem... a second step would be to make the website work independently of their setup. It doesn't seems to be the problem described here: http://drupal.org/node/139464#comment-254334 since they don't have multiple cookies nor they get the wrong password message. I'm going to see if this get fixed pressing the magic "Reset" button in IE and see if they experience the same problem on other drupal sites or on any other web sites... but does anyone has any clue about similar situations? Hi all. I'm totally new to drupal. Reading the getting started guide for 5.7, the quesion "Which versions are supported?" is answer by "Only the current release and one previous." So, I'm wondering since 6.2 version is the current one and 6.1 version exist[s/ed] does that mean that 6.1 and 6.2 are the only supported ones? Thanks, -Gezim
