How to disable the menu cache on Drupal 7

I'm developing a custom module. This means adding lots of things via hook_menu. Every time I add a new menu item, I need to clear all caches via the Performance page. Is there anyway to prevent this data being cached in the first place? This is what's currently in my settings.php file: if (!class_exists('DrupalFakeCache')) { $conf['cache_backends'][] = 'includes/cache-install.inc'; } // Default to throwing away cache data $conf['cache_default_class'] = 'DrupalFakeCache'; // Rely on the DB cache for form caching - otherwise forms fail. $conf['cache_class_cache_form'] = 'DrupalDatabaseCache'; Anything else I can do to easily clear/rebuild the menu automatically during development?

I want to be able by default have a dropdown block expanded instead of the current default which is to show just the link and if the user clicks on it then it would expand. Below is some code related to collapsing and expanding dropdown blocks which is contained within a .js file within the default theme (sites/all/themes/fusion/mapsindeed/js). How can I get the error message from database

For some reason one of my queries is not executing. I've used the db_error() but I only get 0. I'd like to know how can I get the error message. Drupal 7 Database API

Hi, Before I ask my question, I'd like to throw out a disclaimer here: I thought pretty long and hard about sending this e-mail because I know that it is going to rake up the inevitable "procedural versus OO" war, but I feel this is worth asking. I've been programming for more than 20 years, and I know that "procedural vs OO" is not something that anyone will ever win. That said... I'm in the process of converting about three dozen modules I've written for my organization from Drupal 6 to Drupal 7. I get that when you go from one API version to the next in a system like Drupal that there are always changes. Those changes are usually needed to make some new feature available or to make something "better" in some sense. I get that. What I don't get is: why did Drupal decide to re-invent SQL as an object-oriented interface? I'm finding is that a simple on-line SQL query in a Drupal 6 module, for example: $foo = db_query( "select * from {foo} where bar >= date_sub(now(), interval 1 month) order by bar desc limit %d", variable_get("baz", 10) ); has changed to: $foo = db_select("foo", "f") ->fields("f") ->condition("bar", "date_sub(now(), interval 1 month)", ">=") ->orderBy("bar", "desc") ->range(0, variable_get("baz", 10)); I'm having a hard time understanding how taking a well-defined, extremely popular, gold-standard language (SQL) and changing it into this OO code makes anything better. The code is not any more readable than the straight SQL statement, in my opinion. I can only imagine how it looks when I get into doing complex joins and unions and such. And I can't debug it by copying-and-pasting it into a mySQL client window. I'm guessing that from the standpoint of raw code efficiency, it has got to be slower than the single-line-query approach because you're iterating through PHP's internal function calling routines five times now instead of just once and each one of those calls has some overhead related to decoding the variables it receives. One field has multiple nodereference but the display is not correct.

Great reply Mukesh, thanks. Varnish is definitely what we'll start with and see how that works. It looks like you need to use the Expire module in order to clear the cache on page update, correct? Also, I assume Varnish is very lightweight? Integrating a large, given Database into Drupal

Hello, I'm new on this list. I've got a question about Drupal. There is a large, existing database of documents (about 300.000 right at the moment, but other databases of comparable dimension might be added). This database is to be "integrated" into drupal somehow, so that Users could comment on documents, add new ones, rate them etc. The database contains not only document data, but also a wealth of metadata (hierarchical and causal relations, timestamps, versioning, authorship information, several distinct categories of documents - and some more). While this all sounds a lot like Drupal nodes already, i fear that just converting every document to a node would lose some of the metainformation and possibly break some features of drupal due to sheer number of documents. Would it be possible to have Drupal access that database directly instead of "nodes"? That way we'd probably save a lot of hassle. Would that be possible using a module? Any help appreciated, Basti

http redirection problem

Hi all, I am quite new to apache php drupal stack. We are using drupal for an internal cms and for some needs we installed protect-node module. I tried installation on my local machine and the protect node module works fine . On our server some how the module does not work. I am accessing the installation as localhost/drupal on my local machine and as drupal.truzzers.com on the server , Now I am fairly sure this problem is because of apache config issue. Please do tell me how i can debug this -- A-M-I-T S|S
