Legacy PHP script

Hi Folks, I have a legacy php script that displays a form, accepts input and posts back to itself, where it looks for a non-zero $_POST array to decide if it is processing or displaying. In the event of process, it updates a database and redirects to a thank-you page. Simple. I put this script in /site/default/files/form.php and I href'd it to a picture. When I click the picture, I get the text of form.php, not the result of processing. I have discovered that if I put the form on a different website, then I do get execution, so apparently Drupal is able to suppress php execution within its URL space. How do I bypass anti-execution restriction for this legacy script? Or, how do I incorporate this legacy script into an existing Drupal site? Thanks for the help, Chris.

Web site redirect

Recently I enquired about a web site suffering constant redirects resulting in browser time outs and error messages. Turns out the cause was the Lock/Unlock module. A page I had created with no knowledge of that module's existence and with pathauto turned creating the path /node/6229 on was published and visible as admin but not anonymously I was told to unlock the page with the module. This caused the redirection problem. The page was published, accessed via a link in a block in a side bar, was not on the front page and was not sticky. As admin I removed the sidebar link, unpublished the page, switched off the Lock/Unlock via Configuration then deleted the page and the site returned. Thus the Lock/Unlock module is quite dangerous because it does not send warnings, just trashes the site. Plus it makes it impossible for approved editors to create new pages and have them display because they have no admin privileges. Use with caution. I have not checked but believe this would also impact on the way Workbench operates. Additional note. I have pathauto switched off permanently now and create paths to new pages by hand. This seems to solve 2 problems. 1 that the Lock/Unlock module doesn't have to contend with /node/nnnn which in this case it couldn't relate to but an actual path and 2 that the past problem of admin screens failing with "insufficient memory" errors no longer happens. Drupal 7 does not clear caches.

Hello all. Apologies in advance for a long explanatory post. As per previous post because I am desperate. Our web site in Drupal 7.34 ceased to work publicly yesterday afternoon. I loaded the new Skeleton theme via /themes/ [Install New theme] all worked well. I changed the css so that the page had a background colour, all worked for 3-4 hours then stopped with browser errors. Safari in the url field flicks between /domain/index.html and domain/folder/?=index.php about 20 times then fails. Chromium fails with Web page not available Firefox fails with This page isn't redirecting properly. - There are no redirects other than in Drupal index.php. Google is no help so far. I reset the theme to the original mayo, cleared cache, worked once then failed so reverted to core Bartik and cleared caches every alteration but problem exists. Now I find in cPanel/phpmyadmin that Drupal 7 has not cleared the database caches and apparently never does so, the caches contain reference to other themes and redundant data, so what's the point of Drupal Clear Cache if it doesn't clear the data. When I last used drush cc all via ssh terminal it destroyed the database making it unusable so we reverted to an earlier version. Therefore Drush is not an option, too dangerous. I fresh installed drupal-7.34 on the server, copied the /sites folder to the new install, /settings.php refers to the original database, started it and it too fails. So either something in the sites folder or in the database is damaged, so I am really stuck and would appreciate help. Deleting the Skeleton theme and clearing caches does not remove traces from the database caches. I have 3 other drupal 7 installs and all work perfectly, only the main one fails. So a question would be, If I created a new database in cPanel then dumped each table one at a time from the original but not the caches into it what would that do, would it work? What I also do not understand is, when I url to www.domain/directory/user everything works, the theme works login works and loging in as Admin the theme and site is perfect but as anonymous user browsers fail. Waving the white flag here and need help desperately Thank you in advance Roger

Blocks

Using Drupal 7. Mayo theme. On the eckankar.org.au front page I have a number of blocks in the centre of the page and in each sidebar, each with info and an image. As admin I can alter the content and position of each block. Been using Drupal for many years but the below has me puzzled. Is there any way to: -- give a specialised user with Role of MainEditor permissions to enter/change info in blocks on a front page? -- let MainEditor alter block positions with a Weight number? -- make articles stay in a predetermined order, not display as 'latest to top of page'? I also have empty blocks positioned via the Blocks List at the top of Content section and in the Highlighted. I can edit the block info as admin but not as Editor. If I put an article or page in the block it displays at the bottom of the front page. If I enter info it stays at the top. See the block with the orange and yellow flowers as an example. Perplexing! Maybe I have to rethink the whole theme and make it more like news.com.au displaying block stuff in small blocks which alter position depending on latest entries and link to individual pages.... hmmmm food for thought! Does anyone have suggestions or hints on how would be a good way to handle this. Thank you for any help Roger

Views filter rooms by occupacy

I have a site with 2 content types: rooms and reservations. I want to list all the rooms without a reservation for an interval, and also for services, capacity, .... I tried creating a view with a PHP filter to check free rooms, but then if the page lists 10 rooms, sometimes there are 7, 2, or 0; because the filter lists the 10 rooms and after remove the occupied ones. I have tried to create a "subview" filter to select nodes "not in (view of occupied rooms); but I haven't find a way to do so. Hi Al, Jamie and the others who responded. Thank you for your insights about console, working on modules and Drpl8 not ready yet. I figure that if I am going to do programming to the extent discussed then for this application I'd be better off doing the whole thing in AngularJS, I tried to build some basics in php over the past days but don't want to go that path. The proposed booking/events site is deceptively simple but the Drpl 7 modules didn't provide enough variation. Added to this is that all modules are on all the time and some in Drpl7 load the system to breaking point even though they are seldom required. I 've had no end of issues with Token and Pathauto giving the WSOD, to do any admin work in existing sites have to switch these off. I am hoping that Drpl8 will not require so many modules just to do the simplest things. I note here that Drpl8 does not like the ini_set('memory_limit','16M'); at the end of settings.php and the tuts on google are wrong in suggesting this alternative. content and menu access

Trying to stop pages and menu links from being displayed to anonymous users modules tried node access and content access and wile node access I can block the page itself I can not block the menu link from being displayed? I have one content type like pages that anonymous users should never see its menu links nore its pages I have another content type that is assigned per user so user joe and mike can see the page, but john and slim can not. Node access handles this ok, it is the part above where I am having problems. Any suggestions? I'd like to have a easy to use ui if I can. Thanks.

Drupal 8 how to

Drupal 8 = $wow. Have used Drupal 6 and 7 and am building a test events bookings site in Drupal 8 beta because I am accustomed to models views controllers way of doing things from Angular and Rails plus the added advantages of HTML5 and CSS3 are obvious. Creating modules seems easier to me, I never got the hang of hook_something_alter. 1. Tutorials I've run into problems with tutorials about creating D8 modules. While all essentially say the same thing, none actually work, all tuts give YAML syntax errors. Where can I get tutorials that actually work and don't shut down the site? Even the latest ones on Lynda.com seem out of date. 2. Forms Forms in Drupal can be very long 10-20 fields and difficult to reformat and no way I can find to reference the form instance id to enable breaking the form into small field sets. How can a form be broken into several sections/pages to lead the person completing the details through a couple of fields at a time? 3. Are there any example tuts for sending payment to a bank without using ecommerce modules? Thank you for any assistance, it's much appreciated. Arel

Page not found errors Drupal 8

Learning how to create modules and forms I followed the tutorial exactly but get Page not found error. Also it seems the YAML syntax has changed within Drupal 8, Where |demo.demo:| |||path: '/demo'| |||defaults:| |||_content: '\Drupal\demo\Controller\DemoController::demo'| |||_title: 'Demo'| |||requirements:| |||_permission: 'access content' is now- | |demo.demo:| |||path: '/demo'| |||defaults:| |||- content: '\Drupal\demo\Controller\DemoController::demo'| |||- title: 'Demo' and | |||requirements:| |||- permission: 'access content' or any other permission causes an error when the caches are cleared.
