Content Type Descriptions Not Displaying

I can't seem to affect any change on the display of general description information for content types for non-logged in users. Specifically, I've added descriptions using the Admminister > Content > Configure > Content Types > [individ. config] Or, by URL, using ?q=admin/node/configure/types So, I edit the 'Explanation or submission guidelines:' field for the 'book' type, for example, and all is well. But, when I view as an anonymous user, and click Content > Books All I get is the heading 'Books' and then nothing (there are no books presently.) I would like the description of the Book Content Type to appear, describing what 'Books' are (as I've entered the description.) Where should I be looking for such a setting/switch/code edit? (I want to encourage anonymous users to register, but if they explore the site trying to get a feel for what they can do, they see blank pages. Not good. ;) Thanks in advance, Drupal folkies. -- Gary

i installed drupal-4.6.6 and the matching flexnode,event,volunteer,signup,rsvp and eventfinder modules. in the 4.7rc2 and cvs versions i could get the events into the calendar. is that possible w/4.6.6? /|\

Problematic Spiders, Suggestions for Managing

It appears that the MSN spider practically lives at my web site. My watchdog logs are filling up with requests to non-existent pages, pages that are member-only (access denied errors) and the like. The culprit is at a narrow range of Microsoft IP's. 207.46.98.129 - 207.46.98.134 Unrelated, I have some kind of bot that keeps trying to hit a (non-existent) page at: node/14 This is a varying address, but always in the same IP block (not the same IP). The attempt is made (to this and other places) about 6 to 8 times per day, usually with 10 or so attempts at various "admin/*" pages along the way. What tools are others using to limit this bandwidth-sucking and log-clogging activity? Cheers, -- Gary P.S. ...for those with a sense of humor... Bad Behavior seemed reasonable, but the saga of my trying it out today goes, so far, something like this: I installed this on my localhost server and on a live server, and I get the same error in both environments. A simple paragraph from the author, and a single source of information, would probably tell me what I need to do. That part, at least, can not be considered "user error". I shall prevail! Installation Failure

I realize this is a dumb question after searching the forums and drupal site, but I get this error message after installing drupal and trying to access it for the first time: Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in /var/www/drupal/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 31 According to what I read on the drupal site, this is caused by a missing myslq module for php. However, I installed the php5-mysql package (I am running debian) along with php5. I am new to php as well, so I am not sure how to debug this problem. I am trying to run drupal 4.6.6, mysql 4.0.24, and php5 on linux (debian) kernel 2.24. I believe I set up the mysql database correctly - at least there are a lot of tables in my drupal database! Problems with PHPTemplate

I just installed drupal 4.6 and had problems with the display on the first page. I read the following, http://www.google.com/search?q=%7Bhead%7D%20%7Bstyles%7D%20drupal which suggested to install PHPTemplates, which I did according to this: http://drupal.org/node/15285 I logged out, restarted apache and mysql, logged in, and went to administration -> themes. All I see are the original 4 themes and none of the new PHPtemplate themes. What do I need to do to enable the PHPTemplate themes? i18n site with spanish default

Hi, I have a site in english and spanish. english was the default language while in development and worked fine as a multilingual site. Now, I want to make spanish the default language (and front page is set to a spanish page) but the site defaults to website.com/en whenever anyone tries to access the site . This behavior occurs in all browsers. Whts the best way to make a non english language the default for a drupal website? most people who access the site will have english as the default in their browser settings. -v

Question about views/cck possibilities - creating financial reports

Hi, I want to create a custom database which will allow users to input financial data (basically, amounts of money, dates, locations, projects etc.) and then create reports based on the data entered. So, if a series of amounts are entered for each month I need to be able to present the sum for the end of the year by adding up each amount. Is this possible (or will it be possible) using CCK/Views, or will it require writing my own custom PHP code? Cheers, Tim

Clean URL support when parent web directory

Hi, I'm very new to Drupal and have only started using it since yesterday. I've done some trouble-shooting on this problem but can't resolve it. I'm trying to use the "Clean URLs" option in "Administrator -> Settings" but it fails with the error: It appears your host is not configured correctly for Clean URLs. Please check for ModRewrite support with your administrator. I have Drupal installed off a parent website: http://www.domain.com where the drupal files actually exist, and _not_ through a subdirectory like: http://www.domain.com/drupal If I install Drupal into the subdirectory on the same server, the Clean URLs option works fine. If I install Drupal into the parent directory of the web server, drupal fails with the error above. In my apache config, when I have the parent server setup, I have the following entry: UseCanonicalName off VirtualDocumentRoot /home/domain/public_html/%0 which allows me to have alias directories like: /home/domain/public_html/www.domain.com /home/domain/public_html/hostname1.domain.com /home/domain/public_html/hostname2.domain.com so when someone goes to "http://www.domain.com" apache maps them to the: /home/domain/public_html/www.domain.com directory, and when they visit "http://hostname1.domain.com", apache maps them to the: /home/domain/public_html/hostname1.domain.com directory and so on. This is how I've set it up for Drupal, to reside under: /home/domain/public_html/www.domain.com I don't want a "drupal" subdirectory or anything, but still want to use Clean URLs. What's the problem here? translation of vocabulary help and description

is there any way to translate the help and description of a vocabulary? It's a column in the table 'vocabulary' so doesnt show up under localization's 'manage strings' and its not a variable so cant add it to the variable array.. -v
