Picture support is built into Drupal core. The Submitted By module will allow you to pick up any token from the user or profile objects.

From: Cyrus I am wondering what modules are out there for getting information from users profiles to include in a content type. I want to be able to include a line of information about the authors of articles from their profile, and perhaps a picture.
