I think something like Bèr is suggesting is probably the best way to go.
I suppose another approach is to write a script that talks directly to the web interface
Yes, this is what I finally realized myself about two hours ago, see my post "SOLUTION TO: add content..."
Thanks to Ber for his suggestions. Surely his approach is more robust and flexible, but curl is enough for my current needs.
