I would like to implement file revisioning on my web site in a similar fashion to Exponent CMS (see attached file).
To summarize, Exponent allows users to download a file, and then upload a file to replace the current file. When the file is replaced, a revision is made. If desired, the user may lock the file so no one else may edit it while they perform edits. The file is also given a title which does not change regardless of the underlying file name.
This has worked very well for maintaining our organization's membership list on-line. One person performs maintenance on membership data, and another person uses the Excel file to print out labels for mailing newsletters.
Does any one have ideas on how to replicate this functionality in Drupal? The locking functionality is not important, but the other functionality is "would be nice."
