I have gmaps showing up fine with a theme like garland. When I switch to the Coolwater theme, the map image is not displayed. Any ideas why? Is this something within the css? Coolwater theme has not themeable functions or anything that might be over writing.
Is there any JS error? Run it in Firefox to look for JS errors.
