You'll get a choice in the field settings of the date field, where you can say "To Date: Never", that should help.

what i mean is that i created a content type and added a field datetime for assignments. Now I am forced to add the from date. normally an assignment uses todate. If the instructor wants to add the same assignment for another day, he can click for example on repeat till a specific date. Is there such a functionality in content type?
